Charles Myers Obituary

Charles Melvin Myers, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and veteran, was born on September 4th, 1948 in Macon, GA to his since departed parents Eddie Mae Smith and Charlie Granville Myers. In his adult life, Charles served in the Vietnam War for four tours, demonstrating a remarkable resilience that he continued to exemplify following his service in his commitment to his family and community. Charles went on to be a technician for Grumman Aerospace Corp before pivoting to develop his passion as a baker for Entenmann's in New York. He finally returned to Georgia where he retired in 2011, where he took the time to continue baking and cooking but for his family and friends, dishing out the best in his culinary talents. He also was an avid lover of travel, being most at peace by the water. Throughout his 75 years of life, Charles embodied a kindness and unwavering love for his family, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to their happiness and well-being. Well-known as a giver, Charles frequently contributed to such charities as The Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children's Hospital, and more. He passed while surrounded by loved ones on Saturday morning, March 9th, 2024. Charles is preceded in death by the mother of his children Rhonda Lucille Statton, his sisters Dorothy Juanita Myers, Linda Diane Weens, and Joyce Delois Germany, his son Charles Myers II, and his granddaughter Ayana Michelle Fritch. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his sisters (Mattie Hodge, Margaret Patterson, Shilon Rogers, Arrissa Mong, Andrenette Joseph, Gloria King, Sharon Walden, Cynthia Walden, Kreasy Patterson, and Judy King), children (Samona Fritch and son-in-law Max Fritch, Oneisha Myers, Lakeisha Myers, Terrence Myers, Emmanuel Farell, and Mitchell Farell), his grandchildren (Alexis Fritch, Alan "Little Max" Jr. Fritch, Alexander Fritch, Alyssa Myers, Bhrianna Farell, Julianna Farell, Terrence Jr. Myers, and Trevor Myers), a host of beloved nieces and nephews, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Charles was especially close to his cousin, Tresa Smith-Collins, whom he loved like a sister, his mother-in-law Juanita Statton, and his friends Terry McClure, Henry Green and Brenda Green. Their companionships brought Charles' immense joy and comfort throughout his life. Though Charles may be gone from our sight, his spirit rests in Heaven, and will forever shine brightly in the memories and hearts of those who love him.
