Daniel Bahta, age 81 of Norcross, Georgia, went home to be with our lord on August 3rd, 2025 in his home at Norcross, GA.
Daniel was born on June 21, 1944 to Bahta Natnael and Ghedey Zekarias in Asmara, Eritrea. Daniel attended primary school in Geza Kenisha in Asmara. Daniel moved from Asmara to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the start of high school.
Daniel graduated high school in Addis Ababa and went on to study Business Administration via correspondence school. In parallel to correspondence school, Daniel began his first position at Ethiopian Airlines as a sales representative, then progressed to several management roles, ultimately leading to the opening of airport locations in Ethiopia, Rome, Italy, and Lagos, Nigeria.
In 1973, he met Aster Baire at the airport where they both worked, and they wed in 1975, going on to have two children, Jonathan Bahta and Beylul Bahta.
Daniel resigned from Ethiopian Airlines in 1979 and then became one of the initial founders of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company responsible for all aviation services in Lagos & Kano, Nigeria.
In 1985, Daniel, Aster and their two children immigrated to the United States eventually settling in Norcross, Georgia. Daniel and Aster procured a grocery store in Doraville, Ga and ran a successful business for 8 years. True to Daniel's passion, he returned back to the aviation industry in 1993 holding positions as a travel agent working for Expedia, Eritrean Airlines and retiring at TSYS.
Daniel was a man of character and a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, a sentiment he often expressed. He was unendingly proud of Aster, Jonathan, and Beylul and always supported them.
Anyone who knew Daniel knew that he was the most loving father, grandfather, brother and husband a family could ask for. Daniel was predeceased by Beylul Bahta and Mattewas Bahta. He is survived by Aster, Jonathan and Eyrusalem, Jacob, Jessica, Julianna, Jada and his six siblings, Dehab, Tsgea, Temesgen, Biniam, Samson and Sirak Bahta.
