Dr. James E. Harper, 70, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Our beloved Dr. and Brother James E. Harper fell asleep on Monday, April 20, 2026. He was born to Charles Allen Harper and Donna Belle (Grace) Harper in Mansfield, Ohio, in 1955.
James was a diligent student of the Bible and a zealous proclaimer of God's Kingdom, who always sought to give praise to Jehovah God. After completing his education as a physician, he went to Brooklyn Bethel, the World Headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses, in 1990 to serve Jehovah fully. He served tirelessly, night and day at Bethel for over 29 years, taking only two sick days during the entire time.
He loved working out, especially playing basketball with his basketball buddies. He loved learning different languages. For his weekly congregation meeting preparations, he not only studied all the meeting materials in English but also listened to the audio versions available in French and Spanish. He was well known as a thorough physician who gave sincere attention and care to each of his patients' needs. He was a caring husband who always put the interests of his wife before his own.
He left behind his wife, Nonoka Harper, his son Charles A. Harper II, his sisters Joy A. Harper and Kim E. Harper Redd, his nieces Markita L. Harper and Courtney L. Redd, his nephew Cameron D. Redd, two grandsons Caleb A. and Caden A. Harper, and his great-niece Kamri D. Redd.
