Edward Smith Obituary

Edward “Eddie” Lee Smith was born March 27, 1963, in Houston, Texas to Tommy Ray Smith, II and Joanne (Warren) Smith. Eddie’s roots began in the Sunnyside community while living with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Warren. Eddie attended public schools in the Houston Independent School District from kindergarten to 12th grade, graduating from Jones Senior High School class of 1981.

Eddie moved forward to the workforce working as a manager of Mcdonald's restaurant for several years before he relocated to Pasadena, California. He acquired employment with the Pasadena Transit, formerly known as Pasadena Area Rapid Transit System as a bus operator. Eddie further ventured to Atlanta, Georgia making Atlanta his home and embracing a community of friends at his apartment complex and the Toco Hills Community Alliance where he volunteered at its food bank for nearly 8 years every Thursday.

Eddie served closely with Toco Hills’ program director, Dr. Lisa and several of his co-volunteers during his tenure where they serviced nearly 500 families a week. Those families witnessed Eddie’s smile and impeccable work ethic.

Eddie’s heart to serve others was deeply rooted within him until he transitioned from this life.

Many memories of his radiant smile and laughs will be missed by his father: Reverend Tommy R. Smith, II; siblings: Tana Janelle Morehead, Michelle Renee Harden (Randy), John Warren, Tommy R. Smith III - Treboey (Brianne) and Lashonda Janell Warren; aunt: Marilyn Warren; nieces and nephews and

his close California/Atlanta friends and neighbors.
