Ester Henry

Ester Henry, born Ester Jefferson, passed away on November 21, 2024, at the age of 52.

Ester was a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Decatur High School and went on to build a life rooted in service and perseverance. She spent years working at Spelman College and later with the DeKalb County Government before ultimately returning to the medical field, where she worked as a Medical Assistant.

Ester had a personality that could never go unnoticed. Everyone knew her as “the diva.” She was always stylish and carried herself with confidence, lighting up any room she walked into. She was naturally funny without even trying, and her sense of humor brought laughter to those around her.

She was special in ways words can hardly capture — resilient through life’s many challenges and stronger than many people realized. She was an amazing mother and a loyal friend, loving deeply and leaving a lasting impact on the lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Susie Jefferson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Briana Jefferson, and son, Charles Richardson Jr.; her beloved grandchildren, Eric Mitchell and Willie Smith III (“Tre”); her brothers, Freddie Jefferson, Harvey “Paul” Jefferson, and Willie Jefferson; along with a host of extended family members and friends who loved her.

Ester will be remembered for her strength, her individuality, her laughter, and the presence she carried wherever she went. While her journey included difficult seasons, she was loved, and her life mattered.
