James E. Jones, age 83, passed away on November 11, 2025, at his home in Lithonia, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy of strength, humor, and love that will echo through generations. Born on September 1, 1942, in Millen, Georgia, he was the beloved son of Lucille Jones. He and his six siblings—Annie Ruth Jones, Ernestine Jones, George Jones, Thomas Jones, Willie Frank Jones, and Rose Gordon—shared a close-knit and deeply cherished bond. In the late 1960s, he made his way to Atlanta, Georgia—a move that opened the door to a long and distinguished career with MARTA. He began humbly as a bus driver, but through dedication, hard work, and natural leadership, he rose to the position of rail supervisor. He retired from MARTA in 1998, yet he never stopped staying busy, whether he was driving big rigs, tackling household projects, or spending quality time with family. Known for his big personality, sharp wit, and a laugh so powerful it could fill a room, he brought joy everywhere he went. He loved his family fiercely, and his presence turned ordinary moments into memories his loved ones will cherish forever. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Pamela S. Jones. James—affectionately known as Joe to many—had ten loving children: Michael Jones (Hope), Joseph Jones, Kevin Grimes (Gail), Stacy Green (deceased), Fakorede Arinjo Ojekunle (Aisha), formerly known as Lamont Brown, Thamieka Williams (Frank), Luciana Gresham (Antoine), Chris Jones (Amber), Keenan Jones (Sabria), and Ramsey Jones. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who adored him. He is also survived by his only remaining siblings, George Jones and Rose Gordon, both of whom held a special place in his heart. Though he has transitioned from this life, his legacy lives on through the children who loved him deeply and who carry forward his humor, his heart, and his strength. His laughter, stories, and spirit will continue to shine brightly through everyone blessed to have known him. Services are entrusted to Boston-Hill Funeral & Cremation Service 404.228.1067
