Kenrick Yearwood, Sr. Obituary

Kenrick E. Yearwood, Sr. was born on February 3, 1943, in St. Vincent, West Indies, to the late Nathaniel and Mabel Yearwood. He peacefully departed this earthly life on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

Kenrick will always be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, cherished brother, supportive uncle, caring cousin, and faithful friend. His life was a true testament to strength, wisdom, humility, and unwavering faith.

Kenrick accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in Trinidad and Tobago, where he began his spiritual journey and grew in faith, eventually serving as an Elder at La Romain Seventh-day Adventist Church. In his twenties, he immigrated to the United States, initially settling in New York before making his home in Connecticut. It was in Connecticut where he met and married the love of his life, Ruby Yearwood. Together, they shared fifty-three years of marriage, building a strong and loving family rooted in faith.

A dedicated member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Kenrick served faithfully in many capacities and was honored for his commitment as a Deacon at Hope Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bloomfield, Connecticut. After relocating to Stone Mountain, Georgia, the Yearwood family began worshiping at West End Seventh-day Adventist Church and later transferred their membership to Mountainside Seventh-day Adventist Church in Decatur, Georgia, where they became an integral part of the church family.

Professionally, Kenrick was employed by Emhart Corporation in Farmington, Connecticut, where he worked diligently for over two decades until its closure in 1989. After relocating to Georgia in 1987, he continued his career and later retired from General Electric in 2009.

Kenrick had a great love for sports, enjoying baseball, tennis, cricket, basketball, and fishing. He was also an avid amateur photographer who delighted in capturing special moments with family and friends. Known for his calm and steady presence, Kenrick was a source of wise counsel, humor, and peace. His protective spirit and sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Kenrick leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Ruby Yearwood; his children, Cleavon Yearwood, Kenrick Yearwood Jr., and Andrea Yearwood; and his children from St. Vincent, W.I., Roslyn Daniel Baptiste and Ronnie Yearwood. He also lovingly embraced and served as a father figure to Elizabeth Browne, Marcella Glasgow, Patricia Glasgow, Sharon Glasgow, and Nyasha Antonie.

He is survived by his siblings, Helena Williams and William Yearwood. He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth Yearwood, and by his siblings, Eletha Beccles, Bertram Yearwood, Glen Yearwood, James Yearwood, and Hillary Yearwood.

Kenrick’s legacy of love, stability, wisdom, and faith will be forever cherished by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
