Ronald Ray Jackson, also known as “Badda, Freddy, Shane, and
Ghandi,” was born on July 6, 1949, in Kingston, Jamaica, to his
beloved parents, Aston and Susan Jackson.
Ronald was a very dedicated worker and business owner. Throughout his
life, he held many jobs that helped shape his journey. He worked at
Alpart Jamaica Mining, JISCO, Pup Irrigation, and the West Indian
Glass Company, also known as Caribbean Glass Co. Ltd. Ronald also
created the “Elmuna Disco” sound system, which he later renamed
the “Jackson 5.”
While in the prime of his life and still living in Jamaica, Ronald
earned a degree in electrical engineering.
Ronald had many hobbies that he loved and was passionate about. In his
younger days, he was a cyclist who won 1st place medals at the
National Stadium in Jamaica. He loved cooking, entertaining others,
planting and harvesting his own crops, fishing, crab hunting, and
caring for his goats.
On September 27, 1980, Ronald married his wife, Enid Jackson, in
Kingston, Jamaica. They eventually moved to Grand Cayman Island, where
he built his own home with his own hands. Together, they shared three
beautiful children, Ray, Hortencia, and Hilario. Unfortunately, Ray
died at an early age. Hortencia and Hilario were the joy of his life
and made his world complete. Later, Ronald continued his education and
earned an engineering degree in Ohio.
After retiring, Ronald moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to be closer to his
parents and siblings. He soon became the family’s electrician,
plumber, carpenter, and tiler—always willing to lend a helping hand.
Ronald was very handy and loved being with his family.
Ronald was one of ten children and the second child in his family. He
leaves behind to cherish his memories his two beloved children,
Hortencia and Hilario; his brothers, Everal, Junnie, Clifford, and
Araon; and his two sisters, Pauline Porter and Myrtle Davis. He also
leaves behind two grandchildren, Christiaan and Saaint, along with
brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Ronald will be welcomed home by his wonderful parents, Aston and Susan
Jackson, Ray, and his sisters, Thelma, Ladonia (Tiny), and Janice
(Nanny).
Ronald may be gone from our presence, but he will never be gone from
our hearts. ❤️
